Most of us want pounding bass in our vehicles, but with myriad subwoofers out there — and even more specs and sizes — what’s the best choice? What’s the right size? Though the simple “the biggest, most powerful subwoofer you can afford” is easy to say, the correct answer is little more complex.
There are a number of factors you need to take into account when buying a new car subwoofer before you hand over your hard-earned money. In some ways, many of the different factors are linked together (To make the right call, read our unrivalled car subwoofer buying guide).
When it comes down to car subwoofers, size really does matter, and it should be at the centre of your decision making process. We’ve reviewed a ton of car subwoofers on this site before including 15 inch subwoofers, 12 inch subwoofers as well as 8 inch subwoofers.
For the purpose of today’s post, we’ll be looking at some of the best 10 inch subwoofers that you can buy.
10 inch subwoofers are quite popular on the market. Most vehicles which come with a bass system are fitted with either 8 inch or 10 inch subs.
These subwoofers are usually fairly easy to install because they can be placed in the factory location with minor modifications or in a location that does not impact cargo or passenger space too greatly. If you opt for a shallow mount 10 inch subwoofer, you can even install it underneath a seat.
So, without further any ado, onto the reviews…

Rockford Fosgate Punch subwoofers are among the best selling car subs on the market. They seem to be well-liked, and that’s no coincidence. These subs are very well-engineered.
The sub at hand is one of the best hardest hitting 10 inch subwoofer in the Punch series. It’s featured with a rigid anodized aluminum cone designed to hold its shape through heavy play, while staying light and responsive.
This cone uses Vertical Attach Surround Technique (VAST™) to attach the oversized rubber surround to the cone, increasing cone area by up to 25%, so that the subwoofer can push more air for even bigger bass.
Its special venting, plus its aluminum cone which acts as a giant heat sink, dissipating heat away from the copper-clad aluminum voice coils allow the subwoofer to deliver incredibly consistent bass performance over time.
Additionally, and thanks to its extended pole piece and bumped backplate that leaves more room for heavy excursion, the sub can hit deeper lows without bottoming out.
Speaking of lows, the Rockford Fosgate P3D4-10 can hit as low as a claimed 28Hz and as far up as 250Hz. It’s rated for 82 dB and can handle between 250 and 500 watts RMS.

The TS-SW2502S4 is one of the best 10 shallow mount subwoofers in the market. At around 3-1/8″ in mounting depth, this sub can fit in the tightest location. So, if you have no room in your vehicle to accommodate a conventional subwoofer, and you’re more interested in sound quality rather than straight SPL, Pioneer TS-SW2502S4 is a great 10″ shallow mount subwoofer to consider.
Obviously, to have the bass you can hear and feel, your subwoofer must be big enough to move more air. That said, and because low profile subs have little excursion, they can’t thump quite as loud as a full size, conventional subs.
Despite being budget-friendly, this low profile mount subwoofer will do wonders if properly mounted and well-powered. It’s featured with an oversized cone made of mica-injected molded resin that moves more air and delivers accurate bass. It’s optimized to work well in a small sealed enclosure, making it an ideal bass solution for fitting those tight spaces in today’s compact vehicles.
Pioneer TS-SW2502S4 boast a sensitivity rating of 91 dB and can handle up to 300 watts of power on continuous basis. It can hit as low as a claimed 20Hz and as far up as 125Hz.
